It's highly recommended that you choose an official Moroccan Tourist Ministry guide.

Some of the unofficial guides (the ones that hassle you on the street) are normally just after your money and can often be a bit aggressive too. Choosing the wrong guide can be a disaster.

Official guides know the history of the country and can show you all the places worth seeing; take you to all the important monuments and explain things in great detail. They can all speak several foreign languages. You can find them standing in front of the major hotels or else at the Tourist Information Bureaus. You'll be able to identify them by their traditional Moroccan costume and official guide badge.
